Water Efficient Outlets in Government Buildings

Since July 2011, the Government has mandated the use of highly efficient water outlets in new and substantially refurbished Government owned buildings, in an effort to deliver improved water efficiency and consequential reduced energy consumption for water heating.

All agencies are required to apply the policy to new projects and at the point of replacement of existing taps and showerheads in existing buildings. This will assist in meeting SASP Targets 59 and 61 and Water for Good Action 37.

The Water Efficient Outlets [pdf] policy guidance note sets out the detailed requirements for the procurement of taps and showerheads under the policy.
